ATLANTA – Nuesoft Technologies Inc. today announced the expansion of its College Health Scholarship Program. Through the program, Nuesoft will award $100,000 of its Nuesoft Xpress™ practice management software to help fund college health and counseling centers’ efforts to automate their operations.
Nuesoft will award 20 grants of up to $5,000 to qualified applicants. Recipients will be able to apply their grant toward a Nuesoft Xpress practice management system, electronic medical record (EMR) and secure patient portal.
The scholarship program was originally launched in 2008 to commemorate Nuesoft’s 15-year anniversary, but the company extended the program this year to accommodate an abundance of requests from interested applicants, as well as to assist health and counseling centers affected by the downturn in the economy.
“Colleges and universities are being impacted in lots of ways by the current economic climate, and health centers are especially feeling the budget pinch,” said Nuesoft Technologies President and CEO Massoud Alibakhsh. “Our technology is already very affordable, and this grant program gives many schools the extra edge they need to be able to justify a software purchase this year. It’s a small token, but Nuesoft has our roots in the college health community, and this is one way we can give back to it.”
Because university budget cycles vary, Nuesoft will award two rounds of scholarships to attract the maximum number of participants to the application process. Ten grants will be given out in spring of 2008, and 10 in the fall. All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of college health professionals.
The deadline for the first round of applications is April 3, 2009. Spring winners will be announced on May 1.
